week 16: songs of genesis...

alright well i'm lazy and my boy sanga aka dj sanga genesis wanted to do an update since i let larry do one. this cat is an ill dj with dope musical selections, trust me, if u need a dj for ur party, tell me and i will hit u up with his info. this nigga killed it at the house party i hit up this past new years. damn son. let's see what he brings to the table. ez.

Sanga: My boy wrecknoble has graciously allowed me to put some picks on his blog, gotta support what he’s doing purely out of the love for the music. So I definitely thank him for allowing me to share my knowledge as well.
These tracks are all over the place just a bit of what I’m feeling lately…

Nas - No One Else In The Room (feat. Maxwell)
download it

Sanga: Nas and Maxwell on one track... really that should be enough said, a sleeper off the Street Disciples album, this track is easily overlooked as one of the tightest joints on the album. Probably cuz the whole album is Nas at a next level. This track has some sick horns in it, and just a feel good vibe to it, Nasir’s flow is smooth with Maxwell’s singing. this track has remnants of MJ influenced production if you hear u can feel a bit of “wanna be starting something” of this track. Definetly worth peepin.

Heavy D & The Boyz - I'll Do Anything
download it

Sanga: Using one of the most sampled beats from the 80’s “Darryl Hall and Oates - I Can’t Go For That” Heavy D yet again with his distinct flow over this straight sampled beat. Very simple clean production, the track is just straight Heavy D. There is definitely an early 90’s vibe to this track, even though it came out in 97.

A Tribe Called Quest - Get A Hold
download it

Sanga: RIP J.Dilla… can someone please tell me how he comes up with this crazy shit? Mind blowing….probably hands down one of my favorite Tribe beats, off one of the best Tribe albums out there (Beats, Rhymes, & Life). The bass line of this beat with that sample its pure Dilla... if anyone changed the game and made producers step things out in a quiet but strong legendary way, Jay Dee did... an unsung hero of hip hop.
Other J dilla tracks worth checking out:
-The Red and Starz (w/Madlib) off the JayLib Champion Sound Album
-The Roots – Dynamite
-Slum village – Reunion (I love this beat its like so fuckin magical for some reason)

Stevie Wonder - All I Do (Is Think About You)
download it

Sanga:I cannot stop listening to this track….its Stevie nuff said.

Donell Jones - Better Start Talkin' (feat. Jermaine Dupri)
download it

Sanga: Who woulda thunk JD and a Donell track would sound so crisp... a slow pounding bass reminiscent of many Dupri tracks with a light fluffy strings to accompany it, the mids of this track rely heavily on the vocals emphasizing Donell's voice, not sure if JD’s part on this track are consistent with the whole track itself... feels like two different vibes , I’m not a big fan of Jermaine Dupri on tracks... and even less of a fan of his Alien-proportioned bald head (Nabeel: How the hell did this midget pull Janet Jackson?). But this tracks definetly worth a mention for Donell.

Eric Benet - Georgy Porgy (feat. Faith Evans)
download it

Sanga: One of Eric Benet’s best tracks, a bumping track with just the right amount of everything going on in it. Such a good vibe setter, with the likes of other tracks from Janet and Next. This track has lady appeal all over it. Chill and mellow with a good bounce to it... why did he cheat on Halle?.....
